Televisions, shavers, electrical fans and radios bought by inmates use up many batteries. One can imagine how big the usage would be. No wonder they are the biggest client of Taiwan's battery industry.

However, to some poor inmates, batteries are expensive. An inmate is searching the recycle bin in the hopes of finding any batteries that still can be used.

監所收容人自購的電視、刮鬍刀、電扇、收音機全都是吃電池的，可以想像用量有多大，無怪乎他們是台灣乾電池的最大客戶，對沒錢的收容人來說電池是貴森森的東西，一位人犯翻開回收桶，希望找到還能用的電池。
