The Book
2014.05.22 Fountain Pen Drawing
Carefully pulling out an old book from a paper bag, in which the spine has been partially torn from its hanging pages, he stumbles across an extract of his grievance…
As a result of torture and betrayal, he was wrongfully convicted for the murder of a police officer in 1983 and sentenced to death five times until scientific evidence proved his innocence at last. However, his title as an innocent was only partial, if not temporary, for science may have excused him in law, but the tide is hardly about to dry up when he was then sentenced to life imprisonment instead–where “justice” was delivered, or so the judiciary claimed.
Many years later when “freedom” came and he was released on parole, he still could not be freed from the grievance of his wasted past trapped in the book he carried with him…
I can only give him my blessings; and as for the future –without knowing when it will be – I wish him and his elderly mother a hearty reunion in the near future, beyond the constraints of the walls.
