Indoor Exercises
Fountain Pen Drawing  2017.01.23.

The prison doesn’t allow many exercise hours - roughly one to two hours every week in the sport court. Some units like the incommunicado wards only allow few minutes, enough to finish one cigarette only. Exercises are not allowed inside the wards according to the regulations. If someone gets caught, his points will be deducted. But from controllers’ point of view, daily exercises do more good than harms. For one, more time for them do explicit activities means less time to engage in other activities under the surface. One to two hours of exercises a week is not sufficient and do not provide health benefits. When they fall ill, it increases our risk of management. Officers want to limit indoor exercises to avoid conflicts in the crowded wards. Inmates are aware of that, too. They keep an alert mind when they try to exercise in their wards so that officers won’t notice or take points off them.
